Bethany & Kyle’s Summer Engagement Session at The Dallas Arboretum and Prather Park

There are engagement sessions that feel extra special from the very first click of the shutter — and Bethany & Kyle’s Dallas Arboretum and Prather Park engagement session was absolutely one of those.

Not only did we get the chance to photograph this couple in two of Dallas’ most iconic and romantic engagement session locations, but we also had the gift of their story — a love 13 years in the making. Add in some Texas summer heat, a much-needed pizza break at Cane Rosso, and the kind of effortless connection you just can’t stage, and this session became one of our top favorites to date.

Dallas Arboretum Engagement Session

August in Texas means one thing: heat. The kind of heat that makes you question your life choices when you step outside — but Bethany & Kyle handled it with the kind of grace that only comes from years of knowing one another deeply. The Dallas Arboretum gave us a mix of lush garden backdrops and bursts of summer color, softened by the gift of intermittent cloud cover.

That cloud cover ended up being a photographer’s dream — giving us a chance to play with a mix of direct light and softer diffused moments. It was the perfect setting for Bethany & Kyle, whose energy naturally shifted between joyful laughter and quiet, intimate connection. After years together, their love isn’t just new and exciting — it’s steady, enduring, and beautifully authentic.

As documentary wedding photographers, that’s what we live for. Not the posed “perfect shot,” but the moments where two people slip into being themselves and forget the camera is even there.

Stopping for Pizza & Connection at Cane Rosso

One of our favorite parts of this session? Taking a pause in between the Arboretum and Prather Park to grab dinner with Bethany & Kyle at Cane Rosso. We always say that the only way to create photos that truly feel like you is to actually know you.

For us, it’s not just about showing up and snapping away — it’s about building a genuine connection. Over wood-fired pizza and laughter, we swapped travel stories (turns out we share the same wanderlust as these two!) and got to see their playful banter up close.

Planners and couples alike often tell us they’re surprised by how much energy we pour into this side of the experience. To us, it’s second nature. But for Bethany & Kyle, it meant the second half of their engagement session wasn’t just about photos — it was about letting their guard down and celebrating who they are, together, with us as witnesses.

Engagement Photos at Prather Park in Highland Park

After dinner, we headed over to Prather Park in Highland Park — one of Dallas’ best hidden gems for engagement photos. While the Arboretum is grand and vibrant, Prather Park has a quiet charm that feels tucked away from the city. The pathways, shaded trees, and stone architecture gave us a completely different atmosphere, adding depth and variety to their gallery.

Even with the August heat lingering, Bethany & Kyle leaned into every moment — laughing under the trees, holding each other close, and letting us capture the kind of small, in-between moments that become the real story. The lighting shifted again as the sun dipped lower, giving us that golden glow to close out the evening.

It was the perfect example of why we love offering variety during engagement sessions: two locations, two vibes, one cohesive story.

A Timeless Love Story, Years in the Making

Bethany & Kyle have been together for 13 years. Thirteen years of memories, growth, adventures, and love that has only deepened with time. To witness them now, engaged and preparing for their wedding, felt like photographing a love that has been beautifully refined.

What made it even more fun for us was how much they embody the two “types” of clients we always joke about attracting: the engineer and the creative. Kyle, an aerospace engineer, thrives on structure, process, and precision. Bethany, with her creative spirit, values uniqueness, artistry, and expression. Together, they’re the perfect blend — and for us, the perfect couple.

Our photography thrives in that same balance: giving our couples the freedom to be themselves while also guiding them through a seamless process that makes everything feel stress-free. Bethany & Kyle? They were our sweet spot.

Looking Ahead to Their Wedding at The Mason Dallas

As much as we loved their engagement session, we can’t wait for Bethany & Kyle’s wedding at The Mason Dallas. For couples looking for a venue that combines timeless architecture with modern luxury, The Mason Dallas is an absolute gem. Its dramatic interiors, historic charm, and versatile spaces make it one of our favorite places in the city for a wedding day.

Bethany & Kyle’s love story deserves a backdrop that feels as enduring and stylish as they are — and The Mason Dallas couldn’t be more perfect.

Wedding Planning with Turn The Paige Events

We’re also thrilled that this celebration is being planned by our friend and one of DFW’s very best wedding planners, Jennifer Heasley of Turn The Paige Events. Jenn is not only an incredible planner — she’s also a dear friend and someone who’s work we have admired for years. Her talent for creating seamless, beautiful, and unforgettable events is unmatched, and we’re beyond grateful for the referral that brought us together with Bethany & Kyle.

Knowing Jenn, this wedding is going to be an event to remember — the kind of day where every detail is intentional, every moment flows, and every guest feels cared for.

Planning Your Own Dallas Engagement Session?

If you’re newly engaged and thinking about your own engagement session, take a cue from Bethany & Kyle: make it yours. Choose locations that feel like you — whether that’s the grand gardens of the Dallas Arboretum, the hidden romance of Prather Park in Highland Park, or a mix of both. Build in a dinner or coffee stop so your photos tell a fuller story of your relationship. And most importantly, work with photographers who want to know you as people, not just clients.

That’s what we do. For us, photography isn’t just about pretty pictures — it’s about capturing the real, unfiltered story of your love. The belly laughs, the quiet pauses, the way your hand always finds theirs.

So, whether you’re planning a Dallas engagement session, a wedding at The Mason Dallas, or a destination celebration halfway across the world, we’d love to be part of your story. Let’s grab coffee (or pizza!) and start planning something that feels like you.
