Alex & Josh’s Queer Dallas Engagement Session with Skyline Views & Cinematic City Vibes

A Downtown Dallas Engagement Session for Alex & Josh Before Their Italy Wedding

When Alex & Josh reached out about their Downtown Dallas engagement session, they told us they wanted photos that felt unmistakably Dallas. Not just pretty skyline photos, but something that honored the season of life they were leaving behind before starting a new one together.

Just a few weeks after this session, they packed up their Dallas life and moved to New Jersey for Alex’s career as a flight attendant. Next month, they’ll say “I do” at Villa Regina Teodolinda overlooking Lake Como in Italy. Casual. 😭

Honestly, this session felt so deeply them. Big city energy. Cinematic movement. A little romance. A little chaos. A lot of love.

A Queer Engagement Session That Felt Personal to Them

One of our favorite things about photographing LGBTQ+ engagement sessions is getting to throw out the idea that engagement photos have to fit inside some rigid little box.

Alex & Josh came into this session with vision. They wanted movement, personality, iconic Dallas architecture, skyline views, and outfits that actually reflected who they are. Including the Rangers jersey look which immediately got a “YES ABSOLUTELY” from us.

Alex is playful, magnetic, and constantly humming like there’s a full Broadway soundtrack running in his brain at all times. Josh is the grounded counterpart. Calm. Intentional. Quietly steady in a way that makes everything around him feel softer.

Together, they have this energy that feels both cinematic and effortless. Like the kind of couple you’d watch at an airport gate or in the corner of a café and instantly know they’re completely obsessed with each other.

Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge Will Always Be Iconic

Out of every location we explored during their Dallas engagement session, the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge was the undeniable favorite.

There’s something about that area at sunset that feels suspended between worlds. You have the skyline glowing in the distance, traffic humming nearby, the bridge stretching dramatically overhead, and pockets of quiet tucked between all the movement.

It felt like the perfect backdrop for a couple standing on the edge of a huge life transition.

Some of our favorite images from the entire session happened there. Especially the moment where Alex leaned back into Josh with the bridge towering behind them. Romantic. Cinematic. Soft in that way that only real comfort with another person can be.

The kind of image that doesn’t just say “engaged.”
It says home.

From Switzerland to Dallas to Lake Como

One of the wildest full-circle moments about this session is that we originally met Alex & Josh overseas while photographing another queer destination wedding in Zermatt.

Which honestly feels very on-brand for all of us at this point.

There’s something really special about continuing to document people through multiple chapters of their lives and across different parts of the world. From the mountains of Switzerland to the skyline of Dallas and soon the shores of Lake Como, this story already feels beautifully layered.

And somehow, even with all the travel and movement ahead of them, this session still felt grounded in something simple:

Two people choosing each other over and over again while building a life that feels true to them.

Planning a Creative LGBTQ+ Engagement Session in Dallas?

We are forever here for the couples who want their engagement photos to feel like them instead of a Pinterest copy-and-paste version of what they think engagement sessions are “supposed” to look like.

Whether that means skyline views, editorial energy, cinematic storytelling, your favorite dive bar, a road trip, matching Rangers jerseys, or documenting the final days before a huge cross-country move, we want to help create something honest.

Something personal.

Something you’ll look back on years from now and immediately remember exactly who you were in that season of life.

Alex & Josh, we already can’t wait to see you two in Italy next month. Lake Como has no idea what’s coming.
