Matt & Brady’s European Destination Wedding Adventure in Zermatt Switzerland: Portrait Day at The Matterhorn

When we met Matt & Brady four years ago, it was instant friendship. Brady was a groomsman for one of our couples, and he spent the entire day making sure everyone around him was cared for, hydrated, and having a blast—including us. He fluttered around the bridal suite and venue, radiating joy, and I knew immediately that this was someone I absolutely needed to know more and celebrate as fiercely as he celebrated his friends. Later that day, we watched Brady and Matt together- dancing, laughing, and perfectly complementing each other in every way. It was one of those moments where you just know—these two are made for each other.

Over the next few years, we got to cheer them on through all of life’s big moments—buying their first home, Brady absolutely dominating aerial performance (seriously, his Instagram reels leave us and our kids in awe), and Matt crushing medical school, passing his board exams, and landing his dream job. Cheering Matt and Brady on is easy. Celebrating their vibrant, joy-filled, beautiful love is easy.

Hiking the snow-packed trails in Zermatt, Switzerland this past January to capture their wedding portraits? Less easy. But still, wildly beautiful. And hands down one of the most powerful core memories we’ll ever make.

How It Started: Margaritas & A Dream Wedding

When Matt and Brady told us—over a bowl of queso and margaritas, no less—that they were tying the knot in Switzerland and wanted us to tell their story, I literally cried with joy. To know them and cheer for them is already a blessing. But to be invited into this adventure, to document a love story that so many couples fight to have? Absolutely breathtaking.

Over the next two years, we planned. And prepped. And planned some more. Coordinating travel logistics, scouting the most epic portrait locations, and, of course, handling all the real-life responsibilities of parenting and running a business while being out of pocket for ten days. No matter what life threw at us, Will and I would just look at each other and say, Switzerland, and remember that this day with this couple was on the horizon.

Snow, Suits & Texas-Sized Optimism

The morning of their session, we met for a quick breakfast and hopped on The Gornergrat Railway to Riffelsee Lake. It was frigid but absolutely stunning—breathtaking mountains surrounded us, and glittering snow drifts swirled from the peaks. With our Texan optimism (and ignorance), we gleefully skipped down the trail, totally unprepared. Snowshoes? What are those?!

The steep slope didn’t scare us. Not at first. That is… until we were bellybutton-deep in snow, literally rolling down the mountain for maximum efficiency. The thought of how to get back up? Yeah, that wasn’t on our minds as we laughed our asses off, stumbled, trudged, and continued our chaotic trek.

Will carried the 30-pound camera pack like a champ, while Brady—graceful as ever—fluttered through life, holding his and Matt’s custom Don Morphy suits overhead like some kind of wedding fashion angel. Meanwhile, Matt and I? Pure chaos, soaking up every second of this hilarious, slightly reckless, and completely unforgettable moment.

In the end, we somehow—somehow—made it back to the top, completing what should’ve been a simple, accessible route, but hey… a little adventure never hurt anybody. (Okay, maybe it almost did, but we’ll gloss over the part where frostbite, fear, and a potential snowmobile rescue were narrowly avoided.)

Why This Wedding Was More Than Just a Destination

As the political climate becomes more volatile here in the U.S., we knew that we didn’t just want to capture something epic for our dear friends. We wanted to celebrate this love story loudly—for our LGBTQ+ friends, for those feeling uncertain about the future, and for a world that needs more of Matt & Brady’s radiant, glittery, beautiful love.

So, without further ado, enjoy Part 1 of 2 from Matt & Brady’s Zermatt, Switzerland Wedding Adventure: Portrait Day at The Matterhorn. And most of all, help us congratulate the one and only, Mr. & Mr. Adams. 💜
