As wedding photographers, we’re used to being the ones documenting love stories, capturing all the fleeting, in-between moments that make each couple’s journey so uniquely theirs. But after photographing a stunning destination wedding in Zermatt, Switzerland, we found ourselves stepping into the frame for once—this time in the heart of Paris, fulfilling a bucket-list dream of mine that has been brewing since I was ten years old. And let me tell you—our couples photoshoot in Paris was everything I imagined and more.
From the moment we landed in France to the bittersweet tears as we crossed back through customs, this trip was pure magic. And the cherry on top? Having the incredible Keko Rangel capture it all, rain, wind, and crepes included.
The Photographer Becomes the Subject
Finding the right photographer to capture such a special experience was no small task, but when we came across Keko on Fearless Photographers—a directory of award-winning creatives known for their documentary storytelling and bold creativity—we just knew he was the one. His work was stunning, full of emotion and artistry, and after a quick dive into his Instagram, we were sold. He did not disappoint.
A Parisian Stroll in the Rain
Our session started in the most unexpected way: no cameras, no posing—just espresso. Keko suggested we meet over coffee first, a simple yet brilliant idea that made us feel more like old friends than clients. It set the tone for the rest of the session, breaking down any walls and allowing us to trust him completely.
From there, we wandered the city, beginning at the Bir-Hakeim Bridge, where the Eiffel Tower peeked through the mist behind us. We made our way along the Seine, the rain misting around us as we laughed, played, and leaned into the moment, just as we always ask our couples to do. We ended the session at Trocadéro Gardens, where the city lights flickered to life behind us, tying our Parisian dream in a perfect bow—crepes in hand, of course.
A Reminder of What We Do
Being in front of the lens rather than behind it was a rare treat, and honestly? It reminded us just how much trust our couples place in us. It’s one thing to say you understand what it feels like to be photographed—it’s another to actually experience it firsthand. Every laugh, every gust of wind that swept my coat open, every shared glance—it was all documented with care, intention, and artistry, just the way we strive to capture our couples.
