A cozy, romantic wedding in the heart of DFW
Cinematic Wedding by Dallas-Fort Worth Documentary Wedding Photographers
Historic Frankford Chapel Dallas | Harvest at the Masonic McKinney
Some weddings are big.
Some weddings are loud.
And some weddings feel like the most honest reflection of the people getting married.
Andrea and Josh’s Valentine’s Day micro wedding at Historic Frankford Chapel in Dallas, followed by dinner at Harvest at the Masonic in Downtown McKinney, was exactly that.
Thoughtful. Personal. Comfortable.
And built completely around what mattered most to them.
Not expectations.
Not traditions.
Just their people and their story.
How Andrea & Josh Found Us
Andrea first reached out after finding us on Google while searching for autism-friendly wedding photographers in Dallas.
Josh is neurodivergent and the idea of being in front of a camera all day honestly sounded pretty miserable to him. Totally fair.
Being the center of attention, posing for long photo sessions, or following a rigid wedding timeline can be overwhelming for a lot of people. Especially when sensory overload is already a factor.
So instead of trying to fit their day into a traditional wedding template, we helped them build a plan that actually worked for them.
We talked through:
• how to create a flexible timeline with breathing room
• choosing vendors who understood neurodivergent needs
• keeping portraits low pressure and natural
• building a reception that still felt like a celebration without feeling overwhelming
Most importantly, we kept the focus on the people who mattered most to them.
Their kids.
Their family.
And the quiet moments in between everything else.
Historic Frankford Chapel is one of those hidden gems in Dallas that feels like it was built for intimate weddings.
Originally constructed in the late 1800s, the chapel sits tucked away in North Dallas surrounded by trees and quiet history. The wooden interior and stained glass windows give the space this incredible warmth that immediately makes everything feel more personal.
For a micro wedding, it’s pretty perfect.
Andrea walked in wearing a custom wedding gown, paired with a brand-new Stetson and the most effortlessly cool loafers.
It was the kind of look that somehow blended:
boho
western
hipster
and totally timeless all at once.
Josh made his entrance in equally unforgettable fashion.
He rolled up to the chapel in a Cadillac with giant longhorn horns on the front, blasting a full Dukes of Hazzard “Boss Hogg” horn honk as he arrived.
Subtle?
Not even a little.
Perfect for them?
Absolutely.
When the Texas Rain Showed Up
Texas weather decided to bring its own personality to the day.
Right as everything started unfolding, the sky opened up with an absolute torrential downpour.
And honestly? It made the day even better.
Rain has this funny way of slowing everything down. Guests gather closer together. The energy gets quieter. More intentional.
Inside the chapel it felt warm, cozy, and safe from the storm outside. The kind of environment that makes people relax a little deeper into the moment.
For a couple who wanted their wedding to feel comfortable and authentic, the rain somehow fit perfectly.
A Celebration Built Around Family
One of the most important priorities for Andrea and Josh was making sure their kids were fully part of the day.
Not just standing on the sidelines for photos.
Actually involved.
Micro weddings are incredible for that because the guest list is small enough that everyone there is truly part of the story. Kids aren’t shuffled off to a separate table or babysitter. They’re right in the middle of everything.
We captured quiet moments between them throughout the day.
Small interactions.
Little laughs.
Those in-between seconds that usually get missed in bigger weddings.
Those are the moments that end up meaning the most years later.
After the ceremony, everyone headed north to Harvest at the Masonic in Downtown McKinney for dinner and celebration.
Harvest is one of our favorite spots for micro wedding receptions and intimate celebrations. The space feels elevated without being stuffy, and the farm-to-table menu makes the entire evening feel like a really incredible dinner party with your favorite people.
Andrea also pulled off one of the best reception outfit changes we’ve seen in a while.
She slipped into a silk fringe dress that moved beautifully every time she crossed the room.
Then she added the finishing touch.
A gold and diamond grill that read “Mrs. Wyatt.”
Iconic.
Between the fringe, the grill, the music, and the laughter bouncing around the room, the whole night felt less like a formal reception and more like a celebration with old friends.
Exactly what they wanted.
Why Micro Weddings Can Be Perfect for Neurodivergent Couples
Andrea and Josh’s wedding is such a great reminder that weddings don’t have to follow a script.
Especially for neurodivergent couples.
Large guest counts, tight timelines, constant attention, and sensory-heavy environments can be exhausting. Micro weddings create space for couples to design a day that actually works for them.
That can mean:
• smaller guest lists
• quieter venues
• more flexible timelines
• casual portraits instead of long posing sessions
• intentional breaks throughout the day
When couples feel safe and supported, the entire wedding day changes.
People relax.
They laugh more.
They stay present with each other.
And those are always the moments that create the best photographs.
Andrea & Josh, Thank You
Andrea and Josh blended style, personality, family, and comfort into one incredibly memorable Valentine’s Day celebration.
From the longhorn Cadillac entrance to the torrential Texas rain to the “Mrs. Wyatt” grill at dinner, every part of the day reflected who they are.
And honestly, that’s always the goal.
Weddings feel the most meaningful when couples give themselves permission to do things their way.
Andrea and Josh did exactly that.
We’re so grateful we got to be there to witness it.
