April & Nate’s Black and White Wedding at 34 Events in Plano

A timeless, industrial wedding in the heart of DFW

Cinematic Wedding by Dallas-Fort Worth Documentary Wedding Photographers

April and Nate’s wedding day didn’t arrive with a rush.
It showed up the same way they do—steady, comfortable, and already in motion.

They balance each other in a way that doesn’t ask for attention. Nate brings the spark. April brings the grounding. Together, they move easily through the world, and that rhythm shaped the entire day.

They weren’t chasing a perfectly curated experience. They wanted to have a great time with their favorite people and to remember everyone who came alongside them to celebrate. That intention stayed present from morning through the final send-off.

The Morning Unfolds

Nate started the day the way he starts most days—at basketball practice.

Coaching isn’t something he switches off, even on his wedding day. Showing up for his team is part of his identity, and that morning felt like a continuation of the life he and April are building rather than a pause from it. After a big win the night before, his players surprised him by wearing bowties to practice and gifting him a book filled with themed date nights for him and April. It was a quiet reminder of how much he gives—and how deeply that’s returned.

From there, the day flowed forward without friction. Nate met up with his groomsmen, checked in on Sarge—their beloved dog—and gathered everything needed for the hours ahead. A quick lunch at Urban Crust in Downtown Plano, a few laughs, and then on to 34 Events to get dressed.

Across town, April’s morning unfolded with the same ease.

At Aloft in Richardson, her bridesmaids sprawled across the hotel bed, flipped on the Texas Tech baseball game, and drifted in and out of the balcony to watch the Christmas festival below. There was no rushing. No nerves filling the room. Just quiet anticipation and a steady sense of calm.

While he wasn’t able to attend their wedding, their fur baby, Sarge, made his presence known, too. April paused hair and makeup to FaceTime with him during getting readies—an unexpected moment that pulled a genuine smile and a deep breath before everything continued on.

Moving Through the Day Together

April & Nate’s first look took place at Haggard Park, followed by portraits with their wedding party. The energy stayed light and natural. No one pushed moments. No one over-performed. Everyone followed April and Nate’s lead, letting things unfold as they were.

When they arrived at 34 Events, April shared a first look with her parents. It was tender and playful all at once—especially when we asked them to kiss her on both cheeks, prompting laughter that couldn’t be contained. Those unscripted moments are where the day truly lived.

An Intimate Ceremony at 34 Events

Their ceremony space reflected exactly what they’d envisioned—black and white, elegant, timeless, with an industrial edge. The room was intimate, almost cozy, which made the ceremony feel grounded and personal. Their officiant spoke about how naturally Nate welcomed April into his life and how he showed up for her early on, especially during a difficult season. Again and again, the message circled back to the same truth: love, shown through consistency and care.

Ending the Night on the Dance Floor

The reception opened with welcomes from both dads and a blessing, setting the tone for a night centered on gratitude and togetherness. Once the formal dances wrapped and the floor opened, the shift was immediate. April and Nate never left it.

As Texas Tech alumni, they fully leaned into celebrating with their people. At one point, the dance floor filled for a group photo while the fight song rang out—loud, silly, and entirely couple-led. Making space for connection mattered deeply to them, which is why we made sure to photograph April and Nate with every single table group throughout the night. Every hug, every smile, every person who showed up was part of their story.

The night ended the way it had unfolded—cinematic, joyful, and still moving forward. Fiber optic wands lit the send-off, followed by a planned bar hop through Downtown Plano with friends eager to keep the celebration going.

What made this day work so beautifully was trust.

April and Nate trusted us with the flow of the timeline, with logistical pivots, and with the balance between traditional moments and documentary storytelling. That trust created space—space for them to live fully in their day and for us to document it honestly.

Nothing felt forced.
Nothing felt awkward.
It all felt easy.

And those are the days that stay with you.
